Year 2003 every one thought India now has started his journey from where it left in 1984 when the contingent of 15 men under the commandment of Kapil Dev left, yes the year India made it to the finals of 2003 ICC World Cup. Although the result were dismay for India but never mind at the end of the day some one has to put their head down and some one has to be boisterous with joy. In recent time India has always shown a dismal performance at the International stage, be it some “onsite” tour or some domestic encounters. The reason is crystal clear, cricket engagements is now limited to some bacchanalian parties, high price tagged commercials and pompous grandiloquence status in society.
The chorus might have not change the theme of their song but yes the beats are certainly heading toward new tone and notes. The much talked about IPL was in news for some recent weeks, when it was revealed and some senior members of the IPL team were under allegations for venal crime. Obviously a country with cricket as the second religion you can expect such crime and it is not bad to considered it as a venial undertaking, for the first time from pinnacle of the pyramid to the grass root level of the system it was clear that IPL is one of the most corrupt body of India, a system where money is flowing in the hands of game maker, among such names are Lalit Modi, Sharad Pawar.
Being an Indian I am used to such kind of scams in India, as the old man says, you are not a good politician if you are not evolved in such allegations of scam, the politics did not leave Shashi Tharoor, one of the most learned politicians of India nominated for UN, has some unmatched publications. The gloomy news for this new episode is the appointment of new ICC president Mr. Sharad Pawar, the smoke of the IPL scam is yet to abate, the news of such magnitude is setting a new epitome for corruption. Mr. Pawar who is also under suspect of being envlolved in IPL scam is all set to lead the International cricket.
The shocking news was when one of the Australian contender was thrown out of the race. In the lights of what are the achievements of Mr. Pawar, I am in now ways surprised to see him the ICC President, considering that now whole cricket fraternity is corrupt, obviously the brethren court needs who can adjust well the room.
Part – II of the sad story is the current position in India political ambience which he has been holding. The food minister, well Annapurna is the name given to the one who provides food. Well the stats I have don’t show a very promising achievements for our Union Agriculture minister, or may be sinister. India is ranked 88th on world food Hunger Index, now that’s what I call a paramount achievement when you are the Agriculture Minister of the country. With IPL allegation and with such international stats on Indian Hunger Index I am confident enough that Mr. Pawar will add new dimensions to the cricketing fraternity in his rule.
On a personal level, I am least bothered about these things s long as I am getting my salary and bread to eat I am more than happy to watch cricket with a bowl of popcorn and jug bear, but when I share this news on a national bench, with patriotism I find I have to agitate the motion once again and bring the resentment among the masses again. Clearly the Indian have a chronic problem of amnesia where they grant amnesty to all who might have committed the most brutal crimes.
Giving the verbose flow of my thoughts a pause I end up saying that in a country like India cricket is the best crop to reap on, Mr Pawar’s stake in IPL and BCCI will help him to get this job done even more meticulously.
