Social Networking- A Bane or Blessing

Social networking has been an integral part of our life, before the advent of internet era people use to communicate personally, knowing whom they are interacting, however with internet and mushroom number of social networking sites, people today are connecting themselves through what we call blind dating. Blind Dating is technically defined as when a person does not meets the second one physically and interacts over internet. Some times these dates can be dangerous. Well with internet coming to our lives, social networking has become popular. Globalization is now omni present, so user use these social networking sites to expand their business, for marketing their products. While its not fair to say that social networking is a cancer to the society, but with unrestricted use by the youth it’s surely  going to become  a big issue in times to come.

Highlighting the advantages of social networking, one could say that the very effective and efficient use of social networking sites is to find old friends, sites like Orkut, facebook are just some examples. The user cannot only find their own lost friends but also look for person from a specific region or community. Social networking sites such as Linkedin are good in the sense that, an individual can be in touch with many big corporates, which help the recruiters. Not only these sites are just used for hooking with lost friends or expand your business, but application such as poker in facebook are used by many of us to enjoy. Another area where social networking pays is, marketing, many product that are advertised over internet find quality users, corporates today are spending huge amounts of money to count on these social networking sites.

Coming to other side of the fence, the pictures look gloomy, today with more internet users across the world, social networking sites are becoming a curse. The biggest example is online chatting services like chatting.com where users can come and chat. With internet accessible to every one, there is hardly any issues who becomes who. A person can chat as a girl and play with the emotion of the second, these cases have been reported on many occasions and seldom leads to deadly consequences. Such an event, where this kind of act happens, ends in suicide. Many times such situation becoming embarrassing and an individual can go to depression. With improving technology internet bots are linking to these social networking web content and seldom redirect the users to porn content. The major victims of social networking sites are the youth, epically the teenagers, who fancy porn, and fall prey to them. Another major issue with social networking is the easily available information about an individual. Well beside these major disadvantages of such networking the major problem the youth is facing is, a lot of their precious time is being wasted on these social networking sites, online chatting is said to be one of the major source of such problems.

To conclude, there could be mushroom number of advantages and disadvantages of these social networking, obviously it us who make anything good or bad. Alfred Nobel invented atom bomb for peace, but now the same is used for making atom bomb. Social Networking used  in a constructive way could bring happiness, if mishandled could mess up your life.
