The World Health Organization has declared swine flu pandemic from level five to maximum six. This is the first global pandemic in 41 years. It doesn’t mean the virus is now more dangerous or spreading rate is more at global level. The decision was made when the UN health agency held a emergency meeting at Geneva, Switzerland on swine flu with it’s experts. Level six means the rate of production of the vaccines regarding this flu will be made at large scale.
Drug giants are saying it would take about six month for the large availability of the vaccine.The WHO urged the countries not to seal their border or restrict travel and trade.
The virus first emerged in Mexico in April but now spread over 74 countries, infected more than 27000 people including 144 deaths.In UK no death is confirmed yet but cases are more than 800 and still increasing.The last pandemic was the Hong Kong flu of 1968 in which about 1 million people were killed. Ordinary flu kills 25o,000 to 500,000 people yearly.
